What is the meaning of R.O.C.K.?


"R.O.C.K. Your Life." is a uniquely interactive youth life coaching program created by Lakisha Austin.  The idea behind R.O.C.K. Your life is to expose young wome to Real life Options that Challenge them to Know their worth. The Program mission is to help young women with complex needs overcome their challenges and enhance their strengths. Through innovative and creative modeling young women will learn to hold themselves accountable for their choices and outcomes. R.O.C.K. Your Life is being operate as a pilot in partnership with the Sister at Work (S.A.W) program which will focus on introducing women to the construction field and providing personal development and financial awareness. In addition, the R.O.C.K. your Life program has partnered with Holland Community Center and ABCD summer works to provide an opportunity for young women to have summer employment.

 R.O.C.K. your Life Curriculum contributors include Shamina Austin, over 10 years young and childcare program experience, Greta Douglas, Simmons Graduate and Teacher, Angela Dickerson, Theater Arts Teacher and Mentor Coach and David Carruthers, Personal Development Coach and Author of Kill Your Giants. The R.O.C.K. Your Life program incorporates coaching and practical methods to motivate, encourage, and provide young the necessary tools to make better life choices that are in alignment with their wants, values, and vision for their lives.
R.O.C.K. Your Life is entrench with real life challenges such as safe sex, personal care, balancing a checkbook, how to dress for an interview. With special guest speakers that have contracted AIDS, ex-offenders, survivors of Domestic Violence, Women Business Owners and an introduction to Construction field for women. This girls program is layered with real life personal experience and challenges that are sure to get a young woman's attention.

Our goal is for the program to extend past the summer by offering ongoing coaching and workshops to track the success of the participants and to create an alumni program. We have open to have guest speakers, sponsors, and addtional financial contributors to continue or success.
